Fred Lynn’s career started off with a tear, as he became the first player to win AL MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same season. He also made All-Star appearances in each of his first nine seasons.
Lynn batted .338 in his first year, 1974 (including a brief call-up in 1973), and his average was even better in post-season play (an eye-popping .407), In 1979, he led the American League in hitting.
Lynn wore this cap in the late 1980’s during his time with the Detroit Tigers. The size 7 cap displays light wear, as there is slight staining on the sweatband. Lynn’s number “9” is written in black marker on the inside of the visor.
