What can you say about Cal Ripken Jr.? What can’t you say? He’s in the Baseball Hall of Fame, won eight Silver Slugger awards, was selected to 19 All-Star Games, is second all time in sacrifice flies, ranks third in history for assists, was Rookie of the Year, and owns one of the most cherished records in MLB by consecutively playing in more games than anyone in history.
Here is a beautiful Topps rookie card of Billy’s older brother. Cal played 21 years, all for the Baltimore Orioles. For a guy known for his longevity, he did pretty well at the plate, too. In fact, he hit 421 home runs and holds a .336 post-season batting mark.
Here is a beautiful specimen of his best rookie card. Plus, hey! You get the RC for Jeff Schneider and Bob Bonner.
